Action Shot!

I thought I'd try and experiment with the new camera while we were in Port Angeles for the weekend. Here's Russ in action, running across a huge log and jumping off. I got a lot more in the sequence but can't quite figure out how to make a great collage out of it. It will be good to have this feature when trying to take pictures of our little guy since they move so fast!

Update

Last week at my 34 week appointment everything was routine until the end when she measured my uterus. I had been measuring spot on until the 2 weeks before when I was a little ahead but this time my Doctor had a surprised look on her face and said, "Let's go ahead and schedule you an ultrasound for next week." I was measuring at 39 weeks- almost 5 weeks ahead! No wonder everyone I see keeps saying, "Wow...any day now!?" The doctor said there might be a few reasons for this but that she suspects we are having a big baby. There are a lot of super tall guys ( and gals) in Russ' family so it wouldn't surprise me. Yesterday Russ and I went in for my ultrasound. It was definitely exciting to see our little man again since usually you don't get to do that so late in the game. If you don't believe in God, have a baby.... it's amazing to see how he has everything he needs inside there. The ultrasound tech and radiation Doc did their thing and have estimated that Baby Dray is already 6 lb 7 oz!! I was only 6 lb 9 oz when I was born! He is in the 77th percentile. There is margin for error when estimating weight but the good news is, he's a hearty little guy. I'm also on the higher end for amniotic fluid so that could also contribute to my tummy sticking so far out. Last night, Jennifer- our Doula, came over over for our prenatal appointment to talk about our birth plan,etc.. I felt really confirmed in our choice to hire her. She really knows her stuff and gave me a lot of confidence about the whole thing. Next time we see her should be while I'm in labor. She also said that because he's of a higher weight, we might be expecting a slightly earlier delivery. Basically I need to pack my bags. This is really happening! :)

Baby Shower!

My sweet Mom hosted a baby shower at her house today with the help of my Aunt Sharon, Grandma, and friend Monika and it was more than I could have asked for. It was so fun celebrating with so many friends and it really reinforces how much our little guy is already loved. He will have a lot of "aunties!" I feel so spoiled and so blessed. Thank you to everyone who came!

32 Weeks

Today marks 32 weeks! It's been 90+ degrees here and I have to admit, being pregnant in this heat isn't my forte. Russ and I hired a doula which is exciting. For those of you who might not know what that is, it's a certified labor coach. I'm planning on a natural birth and although I'm not making any promises, I really want to try. Hiring the doula has helped me feel more confident about it and she'll be a real help to Russ. We've learned a lot in our birth classes and that also helped lead me to that decision. Today we went on a tour of the hospital and the birthing suites. I was surprised how warm and "homey" the rooms were. I did feel a little anxious while we were there though. It's coming up so fast! Tomorrow night is our last birth class- newborn care. We even get to practice changing diapers on a doll. Should be pretty funny since Russ has never changed a diaper in his life. I have to say that Russ has been super supportive and great about all of this baby stuff. I'm really looking forward to seeing him as a dad.

1st Anniversary!

Russ and I celebrated our 1st anniversary this weekend in Bellingham. I can't believe it's already been a year- it feels like we just had our wedding and left for our honeymoon cruise in Alaska. A lot has happened and now we only have 62 days until the due date of our baby!! We got a recommendation to stay at the Chrysalis in the old Fairhaven District of Bellingham and we loved it! It's beautiful and right on the water. It was great to spend a couple of days relaxing and recapping on our year. As a joint gift to ourselves we decided to buy a new Nikon D3000 and it was fun to try it out on our getaway. Here are some fun pictures of our trip.

Photobooth Fun!

We went to my friend Liz's wedding this past weekend and they had a photobooth at the reception- such a fun idea!! We got to make one for their guest book and got to take one home for the fridge. Of course the baby bump had to make an appearance!

28 Weeks!

Time is flying by! I am now 28 weeks (7 months) but I recently realized this whole pregnancy thing is actually about 10 months (40 weeks) instead of 9 which is pretty confusing! Anyway, I am doing really well. Glad to be off work. Now that I'm in the third trimester I'm beginning to feel more tired and my normal workouts are becoming more challenging. Russ and I started our first birthing class last week and it's been really great to learn about what to expect together. There are 8 couples total in our class and we really like our instructor. We even have to bring a pillow to class.. just like in the movies, ha! Now when Baby Dray kicks we can see my entire stomach move- he's over 2 lbs now!
