Snow in Spring?!

It’s funny how we didn’t have ANY snow all winter long and two days into Spring it starts dumping snow out of no where. Rowan woke up, yelled, “It’s snowing!…. but I can’t see Santa!” Russ took him outside before it all melted away. Now today, two days later it’s gorgeous and sunny out. Too weird!

Homemade Playdough

DSC_0073It is so cheap and easy to make homemade playdough! I whip up a new batch every few weeks or so when it starts to get grainy, and store it in a sealed tupperware container. Rowan likes to pick what color I use, and I try and find fun new things for him to use with the playdough, like cookie cutters or a rolling pin.
A few of you have asked me for my playdough recipe, so here it is:
Playdough recipe

½ cup of flour
½ cup of dyed water
¼ cup of salt
½ tbsp cream of tartar
½ tbsp cooking oil

*Combine all ingredients in a pan over medium to low heat. Dough will stick to the sides and begin to form a ball. Allow to cool and knead.

7 Months Old!

Isla is 7 months old! That means she’s closer to 1, than brand new! ;-)  She is sitting up pretty good now and starting to pivot around on all fours. When I put her in her crib for a nap, I come back a few minutes later and she’s completely spun around facing the other direction. I think it’ll be a bit before she crawls though. Crazy to think that Rowan crawled the day he turned 7 months. She is so much more mellow and I’m not in a rush to get her moving anytime soon! She’s still not too interested in food but is practicing drinking water out of her sippy cup. She’s been teething her toys like crazy but no sign of teeth.

Zoo & Our New Lens

We got a membership to Woodland Park Zoo in the fall but it’s been a little too cold to go as often as we’d like. Yesterday was beautiful in Seattle. Lots of sun even though it was still pretty cold. Rowan is at this age where he just wants to RUN. He barely looked at the animals this time. He would rather play “can’t catch me daddy!” haha. Needless to say he was pretty tired when we left after a couple of hours. A lot of the animals were tucked away to keep warm so we didn’t really get too many pictures. We wanted to try out the new lens though so we got a few cute ones of the kids.

This pictures makes me laugh. I didn’t know Russ was taking it. Reminds me of one of those bad paparazzi pictures, haha.DSC_0163 DSC_0170DSC_0072DSC_0164  DSC_0177

February Randoms

I figure I should just make a post each month of random photos I take. It probably looks like we don’t do anything but take pictures of our kids, lol. We did spend a lot of February with someone in our house sick though.. ugh. Ready for this season full of ‘bugs’ to be over!

My mom had us over for Valentine’s day cupcakes. Rowan thought it was so special. IMG_0452 IMG_0458 IMG_0461 IMG_0469 IMG_0473

My attempt at Valentine’s painting with Rowan. My ENTIRE kitchen floor ended up being covered, including Rowan. I sent a text like this to Russ and he freaked out because he thought it was blood, haha… OOPS!DSC_0024-001DSC_0019DSC_0021Tummy time2013-02-09 17.44.11 My healthy little eaterDSC_0006-002 Play time!DSC_0009-001 Thank you Val for the super cute slippers!!DSC_0016-003    Love my little dude!DSC_0027 DSC_0029-001 DSC_0057 DSC_0059-001

Sitting up!

Isla started sitting up a couple of weeks ago. I feel like the poor girl doesn’t get the chance as often as Rowan did when he was little because I am always trying to keep him from mowing her over!

Russ is 31!

I’m about a week late in posting but Russ turned 31 on Feb.24th. I feel like it was just last year when his sister and our niece flew in from New Zealand and were here for his 30th. Now we have a little nephew and our own little Isla girl. Crazy how much happens in a year.

Russ a.k.a. the hardest working guy of all time finally had a day off but spent the morning working church security and had something else at church in the evening as well. SO..we went out for an early breakfast (since we get up at 5 anyway, lol). Russ always requests a homemade chocolate cake. This year I used the Test Kitchen’s recipe. He also likes cream cheese frosting, so I made some chocolate cream cheese frosting. Rowan is SO into helping me bake or cook right now, so he was very excited about it all. and of course about eating cake. We got Russ a new portrait lens for our camera too. I didn’t get too many pictures.

We tried to set the timer and get a family photo. Wasn’t too successful!DSC_0040-001   DSC_0047-002   DSC_0053-003DSC_0059-003   I like to take embarassing pictures like this of Russ when he won’t look at the camera. ;-) DSC_0056-001
