Spaghetti!

We decided to break in our white carpets by letting Rowan eat spaghetti for the first time. We stripped him down to a diaper and let him go at it. He loved it but had to be whisked off to the bath the minute he was done.

What is this Mom?

Had to be strapped in at this point…. but he’s Happy!

Trying to share with Daddy. He spends 90% of mealtimes “sharing.” Now..just hold onto this love of sharing through toddlerhood, k?

Oh- and notice how his FOOT is up on the tray? Oh boy…

11 Months Old!

DSC_0028

Taking these monthly photos has progressively gotten harder. QUITE the task to get him to stay in one spot for more than 2 seconds.. this was as close as I could get to an actual smile. hehe

Rowan is growing up! Ahhh..only 1 more month until he’s a year old. CAN’T believe it!

I wouldn’t normally know how much he weighs since he doesn’t have an actual “weigh-in” until next month but we went to the doctor (again!) because I thought maybe this little guy had an ear infection since he wakes up screaming 10 times a night. Again, he’s healthy as a horse, lol. Of course I’m glad he’s so healthy but this whole teething thing? Not sure I’ll survive it…

So..I asked our doctor while we were there if we could just do a quick weight check with his clothes on. He came in at about 21 lbs. Only about 1 lb bigger than he was at 9 months. I asked her if we should be worried but she said he is right on track, and staying on the same growth curve but that because he’s so active, he’s just thinning out a bit.

Rowan has gone from walking, to practically running. He now knows how to climb up on top of the couch which means I literally can’t take my eye off of him for a second. He walks around babbling with his hands in the air (imitating me??!) and pointing, pointing, pointing. He’s still only saying Dada..except for sometimes when he’s really upset and starts whining “mama.” He eats anything, and everything we give him and absolutely loves his daddy. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Date Night!

DSC_0010

Russ and I finally had our first date night since Rowan was born. I know, I know… 10 1/2 months seems crazy, right?! We just really love time with little Ro, especially since Russ is gone at work and school so much, and whenever he has free time, we like to do things as a family.

We also celebrated our anniversary since last weekend he had to study; which by the way, Russ got an ‘A’ in his pre-calc class. SO PROUD!

My mom and grandma came over to watch Rowan which was super sweet of them. Rowan is one lucky little guy to have them both loving on him.

Russ and I took off to Red Fin. It’s pretty special to us because it’s where we had our first date! Little did I know, that Friday night eating sushi, would lead to this! Although..Russ did ask me how many kids I wanted, ha! We also went there the night we got engaged.

We ordered some wine and sake, delicious sushi, and a coconut chicken appetizer. It was really great to dress up, and have the time to relax and connect. We told our server that we had our first date there, and that we were now married, so he hooked us up with a complimentary dessert- fried cheesecake! I’ll be spending the next 3 weeks working that one off, but man was it worth it.

We had such a great time. Hopefully we won’t wait quite so long before we do it again..even if it’s just a coffee date. Winking smile

Rowan’s Recent Hangout…

What can I say? He just wants his Mama! Makes it a little tough to get things done. Good thing he’s so cute….

Great Grandma!

Rowan is so blessed to have his great grandma in his life. We call her “Oldemor” since that’s what you say in Norwegian. Rowan is her very first great grandchild and it’s so cute to see how much she loves him. Here are some photos of her reading to him. He just stares at her in awe.

2nd Anniversary

Russ and I celebrated 2 years of marriage yesterday. On one hand, I feel like we were JUST in the midst of all the wedding festivities, and on the other hand, it feels like it’s been a lot longer. Although we’ve had our ups and downs, and our relationship is far from perfect…I really believe we are perfect for each other. Russ is a really amazing husband, and dad. I’m so honored to be his wife. He has finals this week so we decided that next weekend will be our “ real date” but we still had some fun yesterday. Russ got me a dozen red roses and we exchanged cards. We also had breakfast yesterday at Chase’s Pancake Corral- a great spot on Bellevue Way. Banana Pancakes with coconut syrup?! Yes, Please! Right up my alley. We brought Rowan, which can be a challenge in a restaurant but he did really good. We tried to take a couple of pictures in the morning but it’s not very easy with our big camera! Unfortunately, we didn’t get any on our breakfast date.

We spent the rest of the afternoon just hanging out, and Russ did some studying. We went to the park down the street, and to the pool before finishing the evening by watching a DVD of our wedding- a tradition we want to keep every year on our anniversary.

Happy 2 years babe! Here’s to many years ahead of us!

Pool Time!

It's great having a pool at our new place. Rowan really loves the water, and swiming but I wondered how he'd do since it's much colder than the indoor pool he had waterbabies at. He doesn't seem to mind at all! It's been great to cool off as a family, and good practice for him to keep trying out all the stuff we learned in class. He spends the majority of the time splashing like crazy in there!

Annual Ironworker Picnic

Yesterday was the annual Ironworker picnic. I’ve gone with Russ a few times now and it’s actually a lot of fun. The first one we went to, we were dating, the 2nd one we were married, and the third one, we had Rowan. Kind of funny because some of the guys haven’t worked with Russ for awhile and are always surprised at how much has happened in such a short time.

It was a perfect day for it, lots of sunshine. It’s always held at Lake Sammamish State Park. We had some good food, and fun watching all of the competitions for kids and adults. It will be fun for Rowan when he’s old enough to go in the bounce house, and compete in all of the games for prizes.

Rowan’s wearing his “crane” shirt. Pretty sure Russ is hoping that will be his first word.

Hair Feathers!

2011-07-31_14.56.20

I’ve been wanting to get some feathers in my hair for a little while now. It’s a fun way to add a little something without the commitment (or price!) of hair dye. I was planning on some really subdued, “blonde” ones and then I decided to do something a little more out of the ordinary for me- green and black! Russ actually helped me put them in with his pliers, and I think they are really fun! They are often swept up within the layers of my hair and not quite this obvious. It’s pretty cool that you can wash your hair, blow dry, straighten, curl, or whatever with them in. After a few weeks, I think I’ll do some lighter blonde ones but for now, I really like them!

First Time in the Grass

Since we finally have some hot summer weather, Rowan and I went to the park with our friends, the Elsbree’s. They have 4 kids who dote on Rowan, and he loves it! He was so busy checking out the grass that he decided not to fight me on the hat for once. At first he sat still, and didn’t know what to do. Then he decided it was scary, and cried until I picked him up. Once he got through all of that, he decided he would try and EAT the grass. Oh boy..

So Cute When He’s Asleep…

I snap a lot of pictures of this kid when he’s sleeping. He’s just so peaceful and innocent. Makes me wanna kiss those little rosebud lips, and eyelids.2011-07-29_16.21.092011-07-31_11.29.392011-07-31_11.58.51

More Tub Time!

The lighting in our new place isn’t the best in Ro’s bathroom. That’s why there’s this yellowish tinge.

I’m glad to report that Rowan still loves the bath. Although, I’m trying to teach him that he needs to “sit” the entire time because he keeps trying to get up. I usually end up getting pretty wet from all of his splashing but it’s nice to cool off with the recent summer heat!

Love this little face…

10 Months Old!

DSC_0206

Rowan is in the double digits now, woo-hoo! Biggest development this month?? WALKING! I will try and post a video soon.

He LOVES to dance, and if he hears music anywhere..grocery store, car radio, my own lovely singing or humming, haha..he starts dancing. He even dances when I say “dance!” Maybe we’ll have a musical kid on our hands.

Rowan recognizes a lot of words now. He does a lot of babbling, but nothing recognizable yet.
