Fire Safety Day

I am all about free or cheap local events that get our family outdoors. It’s great subscribing to macaroni kid, red tricycle, and parent map, because I get emails all the time outlining upcoming fun! We decided to check out Fire Safety Day in Seattle. The event was in the parking lot of the Museum of Flight which made it even cooler since we got to see lots of planes taking off the whole time.

This post may look a bit like our touch a truck photos, but this was great because there were not nearly as many people. Lines were only like 2 or 3 kids at the most. They had a lot of safety vehicles, and booths, but Rowan’s favorite (of course) was the rescue helicopter. All of the firefighters, police officers, pilots, etc.. were super great and made Rowan feel really special. He got stickers, and activity books, and all sorts of goodies. Here are some pictures I took on my phone.

Wouldn’t be surprised. :)2013-06-28 11.32.19 2013-06-28 11.32.32 2013-06-28 11.38.02Hopefully this is the ONLY time in life I see him in the back of a police car, lol. 2013-06-28 11.37.12  Meeting Sparky the dog.2013-06-28 11.39.39 2013-06-28 11.44.11 Tried to put Isla in a mini fire truck. She wasn’t so sure about it. 2013-06-28 11.47.42 I had to take this pic because I just think it’s cute to see Russ with both kids and my girly diaper bag, ha!2013-06-28 11.49.43 This fire hydrant was like a little robot that moved around and talked to the kids. Rowan was actually kind of scared of it but wanted to watch the other kids interact.2013-06-28 12.11.14 Cute photo op, but nearly impossible to get Rowan to look at me. 2013-06-28 12.14.29 Cool planes all around! It’s fun having a toddler boy!2013-06-28 12.28.33

Weekend Beach Trip!

We went with my mom and Brian to their house in Port Angeles for the weekend. It was Rowan’s second trip and Isla’s first. SO NICE to get away for the weekend. My mom did all the cooking/dishes which was such a great break for me. She is also so great about keeping Rowan entertained. They rent the house out as a vacation rental and it is pretty much booked ALL summer besides a day or two here or there so I’m glad we had the chance to go.

It was pretty windy and chilly, hence the puffy coats, but still fun and we still spent lots of time outside.

Here are a lot of photos.. a bit out of order. :)

We’ve been waiting for a time when he could use it, and this was it! He thought he was pretty special.DSC_0126  Exploring and staying warm inside for a bit.DSC_0129 DSC_0134  Back on the beach. More sunshine!DSC_0150 DSC_0153 DSC_0162 DSC_0174 Our room from the outside and the inside. Wish we could have curled up with a hot cup of coffee and sat outside. Two kids kind of put a stop to that. They still get up by 5:30, ha!DSC_0183DSC_0127 DSC_0184 DSC_0187 DSC_0191 DSC_0193 DSC_0200 DSC_0210  DSC_0232 DSC_0236 DSC_0240  020My step dad made this sign. Isla’s First Trip to the Ocean

We went to my parent’s place in Port Angeles over the weekend for 3 days. It was SO nice to get away and relax. I brought the ‘Flip’ with me but only managed to take one video. Isla kept squirming out of my arms and trying to crawl off the blanket so we figured we should let her try out the sand. The video is shaky but it’s all we got! I have lots of pictures to come. Just waiting for my mom to send me a few from her camera and then I’ll post!

10 Months!

I’m about five days behind but Isla is 10 months old. DOUBLE DIGITS! I still think of her as such a little baby, but she really isn’t. :( Yesterday Russ was talking to someone about his toddler and “newborn” and I had to break it to him that Isla is not a newborn..and almost 1, ha!

She has started cruising, dancing, waving like crazy, and um.. growling?! I guess that’s what happens when you have a brother. She does the funniest growling noise. I’ll have to try and get a video soon. She’s also at this stage where she wants to touch anything we do (well, mostly Rowan). If Rowan is building towers with his blocks, she has to touch the block in HIS hand…not one exactly like it. He gets pretty stressed out about it and it’s hard to keep them away when we’re all playing so hopefully this stage won’t last forever!

I thought last month was hard to get her picture but this was worse. She pretty much ATE the sticker. Could not distract her. The best photo I got was the first one, but she’s not smiling! The other photos I took the morning before. Thought she looked so pretty in her little halter dress.
