Mother’s Day

Anyone who knows me, knows that I’ve wanted to be a mom since I was 5 years old. I always said I’d be a pediatrician when I grew up, because I wanted to work with little kids, and then when I actually DID grow up, I realized that’s a whole lot of school, and a whole lot of blood and needles. So.. I became a teacher, because again.. I love kids.

Of course, it isn’t always easy.. but I have to say, I find absolute JOY in being a mom. Everyday I look at Rowan, and seriously can’t even believe he’s mine. I really can’t. It is so much better than I could have ever imagined. And then I look down at my growing (can we say HUGE) belly, and am in awe of this little miracle and in anticipation of meeting our little girl in just 3 months.

Russ took this photo and I just love it. DSC_0085

My favorite little guy in the world!DSC_0035 DSC_0066DSC_0068This year I had the privilege of hosting my own mom, and grandmother for lunch. It was a beautiful, and hot day, so I made a big BBQ chicken salad. For dessert, I made some delicious chocolate coconut pecan bars, and my mom made a homemade rhubarb pie. It was nice to visit and spend the day with these two very important ladies. Rowan loves them both so much. he’s a lucky little guy.DSC_0058I just had to include this photo because now that it’s actually warm enough to go barefoot, Rowan is fascinated by his. He’s always trying to pick something off of them and gets upset when he can’t get it. Guess it means I have to be even more diligent about vacuuming! DSC_0042

Happy Mother’s Day (a bit late, I know… )

Such a Seattle Kid

Okay, I know I posted this picture on FB, but it seriously KILLS me! I just love it because it captures Rowan’s little personality, and this is how he says “cheese.”

I also love that Russ took is on his cell phone and texted me, while he let me SLEEP IN. I think it’s so sweet that they have these outings. Rowan loves drinking milk out of a Starbucks cup, and has even started sitting still for more than 3 minutes!

It’s amazing how much a toddler picks up on.. because now EVERY single time we pass a Starbucks, Rowan yells “COG COG!!!” (coffee) and then cries when I tell him, “ Not right now.” Uh- oh.. he’s already developed a taste for Starbucks.

Marmite

April 2012

Marmite is a New Zealand thing. It’s a thick, dark, yeast spread that Russ can’t get enough of. You can find small jars of it at World Market, for a ridiculous price, but other than that, it’s no where to be found. So.. that means he always requests it if we have NZ visitors, or packages in the mail.

I have to admit… I REALLY don’t like it. I always pride myself in being such an adventurous eater. There’s seriously not much I don’t like, so I was excited to try it. I had some on toast, and literally had to spit it out! It’s just really strong, and salty, and ick…..

So, I thought FOR SURE Rowan wouldn’t like it! Boy was I wrong.. he LOVES it!! Guess it shows that he really is half “kiwi”

Coffee Talk with Grandma

At home we have a pub style tall dining table and chairs, so Rowan was in heaven getting to sit in the big chairs in PA. He loves his little mini mug, and pretends to drink “cog cog” (coffee) out of it all the time. Here he is drinking his morning cog cog with grandma and being quite the chatterbox!

I also took one of Rowan and Russ reading car magazines. Sure wish I knew what Rowan was saying. He’s so funny!
