Walks With Mama

We love bundling up to take walks together. Today was the first time Rowan stayed awake the entire time! He was looking around at all the sights (well, mostly trees and blue skies from his view).

Blue Is Rowan’s Color

I love how the light blue matches his eyes. :)

Resolution 2010..How Did We Do?

Now that we’re onto 2011…HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?! I’m reflecting on 2010. It was a really great year and we started it off visiting Karissa and Dan in Denver for some Catch Phrase, socializing, and snowboarding. One month later, February 1st to be exact, our whole world changed. I took a pregnancy test and much to our surprise and excitement, it was positive. Now Rowan is already 3 months old! From then until now we also celebrated our first year of marriage, and I quit working to become a stay at home mom. Lots of change! I wouldn’t change a thing though.. it’s a ride I feel so blessed to be on. I’m not one for making New Year’s resolutions but of course a new year always brings a fresh start and gets me thinking about what I’d like to improve on. Last January Russ and I decided to read through the entire Bible together sticking to the plan in the back of his ESV (English Standard Version) Bible I bought him for our wedding. The plan isn’t just to read through each book once; instead it takes you through from the Psalms and Wisdom Literature, Pentateuch and History of Israel, Chronicles and Prophets, and Gospels and Epistles (some of these you read twice). We started out reading separately but soon fell behind…I think the furthest behind I was, was around 2+ weeks..Russ, even more. It only takes about 15-30 minutes but even that can be hard to carve out in a day. A lot of people told us just to pick up where we left off and not to worry about it but we were determined. We finally decided that it would be best to read it everyday TOGETHER. It created accountability and was a great basis for a lot of discussion and daily prayer with one another. Rowan was born and we fell behind a couple of weeks but with some perseverance, we caught up and finished just in time for 2011. I’m SO glad we decided to do this. I feel so much more familiar with God’s word, where to find things, and some of the history behind it all. We prayed for a hunger for the word, and we got it! It’s amazing how you can read through the same scriptures over and over but new things are revealed each time. It’s also been a great foundation for our first year as a married couple. Russ and I have been discussing what we want to do next, and I think we decided on studying specific books of the Bible more in depth. First stop- Romans, my favorite book! God is so faithful and I’m looking forward to learning more through his word this year as well as teaching Rowan about God’s love as he grows!
