The first thing Russ and I said to each other yesterday was, “ Why haven’t we gone here EVERY weekend ALL summer??!” I think we forget how close it really is, and how absolutely beautiful it is. Yesterday it was perfect weather, sunny, with a little breeze. We packed the car with snacks, and sand toys, and were off! We were lucky to have set our blanket down near a couple of little boys who were SO sweet with Rowan. They built him his own “bat cave,” and he had a blast. Isla loved it too, but kept trying to eat the sand. When we told her no, she would cry and cry. After almost 2 hours on the beach, we decided to get some fish and chips from Spuds. Then Rowan held Russ to his promise for ice cream. We stood in a really long line…finally get about 4 people from the front and Rowan announces he needs to go to the bathroom. So….off we went to run and find a bathroom. We had to start over in line which was a bummer but it was worth it in the end. Isla got to try her first bite of ice cream too, and of course she loved it. Both kids were exhausted, sticky, and full of sand, but we had a great time! I think it was a pretty perfect end to summer.
(Thanks Nana, for sending the cute rash guard (togs as you call them) from NZ!)
