Christmas 2013

We haven’t been sick at our house since last January and of course we all had to get sick the week leading up to Christmas. Everyone was better but me, a few days before though which was good! I have had blocked sinuses and a headache for days. Saddest thing is that I still can’t taste or smell. Who wants that on Christmas? Good diet plan I guess. ;-) My dad stopped by on Christmas Eve for an hour, but I was feeling horrible. Christmas morning our kids slept until 6:40 (best gift ever!!) It was so cute to watch Rowan come out of his room and discover all the gifts under the tree. We turned on the fire, played Christmas music, and opened gifts. The kids were so excited, ripping paper everywhere. After playing a bit, we headed to my mom and Brian’s to have brunch and open a few more gifts. It’s always kind of a bummer that we dont have any kids in our family (except for cousins ALL the way in New Zealand). My mom does a great job though. She made everything really special for us and we had a great time. Now he and Isla both have little chairs with their names on them. DSC_0099 DSC_0102 The handprint canvas we made with the kids for my mom and Brian’s Christmas present. Cream Cheese Face!

It’s always so funny how kids can eat and get something all over their face and not even notice, or care! Isla loves bagels and cream cheese (the girl hardly eats anything, unlike her brother).

Snow Day!

This was Isla’s first experience with snow, and the last time Rowan saw snow was when he was about 14 months old.

We looked out the window at 5 Am when the kiddos got up and I could hardly keep them inside until 8. I think Rowan asked me about 40 times if we could go out. I was glad I had already collected all their snow gear, so we put it all on and headed out. I wanted to actually spend time playing with them rather than taking pictures, so I didn’t get any of the little snowman we built, and only took a few outside of our place. Isla spent the whole time with her tongue out trying to catch snow flakes. Rowan went out immediately to throw himself down and make a snow angel. I had no idea he even knew what it was. Must have seen it on a show! Anyway, it was super fun and Rowan wanted Russ to come play when he got home for work. He cried when the snow melted away. We told him we’d take him up to the mountains to play soon.

They just looked so cute all bundled up!DSC_0039DSC_0034   DSC_0040 DSC_0043  DSC_0051  DSC_0058 DSC_0061 DSC_0080Isla LOVES pointing out birds. She was super serious the whole time out in the snow until she saw a bird. She had a huge smile on her face yelling, “ Buh buh!” for bird.

2nd Annual Christmas Baking Day!

Today (yes today, I’m actually keeping up for once!) we headed to my mom’s for our second annual Christmas cookie baking day. One of Rowan’s most favorite things to do, is to help with baking and cooking so he was very excited! She was so sweet to plan everything, and gather up all the ingredients. We made gingerbread men, sugar cookies with candy cane hershey kisses on top, and the winner….Rowan’s first gingerbread house! That kept us pretty busy.

We usually don’t let Rowan have all that sugar though and I swear, I could totally see the effects. He was SO grumpy and unlike his normal self when we got home.

Oh well! We had a really fun day. DSC_0028 DSC_0034 DSC_0036 DSC_0037 DSC_0038 DSC_0040 DSC_0043 DSC_0047 DSC_0048 DSC_0053 DSC_0056 DSC_0057 DSC_0067 DSC_0072
